GENERAL INFORMATION
Welcome to Katz. We hope your child will enjoy his/her time in
the playgroup. This information pack is designed to provide you with important
information concerning the running of Katz. We operate to agreed policies and
procedures and it is important parents read and understand these and comment
where they feel changes may be appropriate.
Aim:
The aim of Katz Crèche is to provide childcare for parents/carers
and to offer opportunities for unstructured play in a safe and friendly
environment with experienced Play workers. We are actively working towards
ensuring that our activities, recruitment and employment policies give equal
access and opportunity to all – Elizabeth Henderson (Crèche Leader)
Opening Hours:
Katz is open from 10.00am until 11.45pm on Mondays to Fridays and
1.00pm - 2.00pm on Thursdays to coincide with Body Pump. It is open all year
apart from during the school Christmas holidays.
Ages of Children:
Katz accepts children of pre-school age only. We regret that we
can only accommodate 16 children on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Registration: All children must be registered before they can attend. Registration forms are available at reception or online.
Fees:
All fees must be paid in advance or on the day. CLICK FOR KATZ POLICIES
Collection of Children:
Children will only be released to someone listed on the
Registration Form. If you wish someone else to collect your child, please
telephone beforehand or send a written note with your child (not the person who
will collect your child) stating the name of the person and the date the
arrangement is for. Please note, Averon staff accept no responsibility for your
child once they have left Katz, even if they remain in the building.
Snacks: We will provide
a light healthy snack mid-morning.
Activities: Katz aims to
offer a wide variety of activities to aid children’s development. Any ideas
parents may have, or donations of toys and equipment in good order, are always
appreciated.
Medication:
If your child normally requires
medication, please note this on the Registration Form with guidelines as to its
use. If your child has been prescribed medication for a short time, and you wish
staff to administer it to him/her, we must have a written note authorising us to
do so. Any medication should be given to the Crèche Leader who will place it
with the First Aid box for supervised use as necessary. Inhalers are the
responsibility of the children and should be carried about them as normal.
Staff:
All staff and volunteers are either
registered, or in the process of being registered, with Social Services. There
is always a qualified First Aider on shift within the Leisure Centre and most
Katz staff are qualified First Aiders .
Nappies:
We do not supply nappies. If required, please leave a spare nappy
with our staff on each visit. A charge of 75p will be levied if we are
required to supply a child with a new disposable nappy. We also politely request
that children are not put into Katz with dirty nappies.
Late Collections:
As per Child Care Commission guidelines, children must
be picked up by 11.45am. Customers who regularly flaunt this rule may be
required to pay for the staff’s time and may be barred from using the service.
Policies:
We have written policies in the
following:
Child Protection
Discipline
Health & Safety
Behaviour
Complaints
Equal Opportunities
Illness
These are on display in Katz and
written copies are available on request

If you have a problem,
complaint or suggestion regarding Katz please inform us immediately. We may make
honest mistakes and we will therefore appreciate constructive criticism. As per
our confidentiality policy, all information, either written or verbal, will be
kept in strictest confidence. Your first point of contact should be the Crèche
