To register your child with Tigerz just call us on 01349 882287 or E-Mail a request to be sent an application for registration, quoting your name, address and contact phone no.

Welcome to our Out of School Club – we hope your child will enjoy his/her time at the club.  This information leaflet is designed to provide you with important information concerning the running of the club.

We operate to agreed policies and it is important that parents/carers read and understand these and comment where they feel changes may be appropriate.

The Out of School Club is based in the Averon Leisure Centre.  We are a charitable organisation; therefore the fees that parents/carers pay provide the salaries and the running costs of the club.

Mission Statement:

The Tigerz Club will provide a safe, permanent place to benefit children and young people who both reside in and visit the Bridgend and Coulhill School catchments area; to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of enjoyment and social welfare for recreational or other leisure time activities which will complement those provided at school and in the home; for each person to be valued and respected without discrimination on the basis of religion, race, appearance, gender or ability, developing social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional capacities that children may grow to their maturity.

Opening Hours:

The club is open from 2.30pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday during term time, and from 8.30am to 6pm during school holidays and in – service day.

Ages of Children:

The club accepts children from age 4 to 12 years.

Registration:

All children must visit and register with the club, before they attend.  Registration forms can be obtained by visiting the club during opening hours, or by telephoning the Averon Centre - 01349 882287

Booking a place for your child:

Due to the limited number of places available, it would be advisable to book a place for your child well in advance (preferably with one weeks notice).  It may be possible to drop in on the day, but we cannot guarantee that a place will be available. For this reason, please do not send your child to the club unaccompanied unless that they are booked in.  When booking please ensure you give the staff the times for when your child will both arrive and leave.  Should the club implement a waiting list for places, these will be addressed on a first come, first served basis or as decided by the club.

Fees:

All fees must be paid in advance or at the end of each week.  Pre –paid fees will not be refunded unless the child is hospitalised.  Should your child be booked in and fail to turn up, you will still be charged for that place unless you give us a full 24 hours notice.  Any additional fees created (i.e. if you have paid in advance and your child stays longer than you have paid for) must be paid as soon as possible.  Customers who are regularly in arrears may be barred from booking.  Please note, we cannot accept or keep children who are sick.  This is a Highland wide policy and applies to childcare as well as schools.  (See separate Pricing Policy

Collection of children

A member of staff from the Tigerz Club will collect the children from the Bridgend and the Coulhill primary schools. Children may make their own way to the club on condition that a consent form is completed. This must be signed by the parent and the senior play worker. During holidays/in – service days, please ensure you hand your child directly to a member of staff. All children must be collected before the advertised closing times. Parents will be charged for any staff costs incurred by a late collection. Children will only be released to someone listed on the registration form. If you wish someone else(other than yourself) to collect your child, please telephone beforehand or send a written note with your child, stating the name of the person and the date the arrangement is for.

Snacks:

We will provide a light, healthy snack after school during term time and in the morning and afternoon sessions of holiday/in- service day care.  However, for full day sessions children must also bring a packed lunch.  Please note that we do not permit sweets and fizzy drinks as this contravenes our healthy eating policy.

Activities:

The Tigerz Club aims are to offer a wide variety of activities to aid the children’s development.  Any ideas that parents/carers may have, or donations of toys, equipment (which are in good working order), are always appreciated.  There is an area set aside for children to do homework and other quiet activities.  Please inform the staff if you wish your child to do their homework, also the staff will not sign homework books.  Children 8yrs and over can visit the library while at the club, but they must have a consent form signed by the parents before the staff will allow them to go.

Medication:

If your child normally requires medication, please note this on the registration form with guidelines as to its use.  If your child has been prescribed short – term medication, we must receive a completed medicine form from you and the child must administer it themselves.  Any medication should be given to the senior play worker who will place it with the first aid box for supervised use as necessary.  Inhalers are the responsibility of the children and should be carried by them, as normal, staff should be advised.

Staff:

All staff and volunteers are registered with Disclosure Scotland as child carers (background check to ensure staff/volunteers are suitable persons to have access to children).  There is always a qualified first aider available on the premises.

Policies and Procedures:

You will find copies of all our policies in our welcome pack - available as you enter the club.  It is the responsibility of every parent/carer to read these policies and procedures.  The staff is available to answer any queries.

Admissions policy:

With regard to admissions the Tigerz club hold an open policy on admissions, promoting equal opportunities and seeking to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of religion, race, disability, health, gender or any other basis.

Code of conduct:

We encourage the children to respect their environment, each other and the adults who work within the club.  We aim to endorse a consistent, fair and friendly approach to promoting good behaviour.  We appreciate that this is the children’s leisure time and therefore keep rules to a minimum.  The code of conduct for children is implemented in partnership with the children themselves.

Outings:

Parents/carers will be notified in advance of any planned trips and will be asked to sign a consent form.  Impromptu trips to the park; library, shops etc may take place when adult/child ratios permit this.

Pre Registration visits:

The Tigerz club encourages parents/carers, with their child(ren) to visit the club before completing the registration process.  It may help your child settle in if they visit the club prior to them attending; this should relieve any anxieties/concerns the child will have.  Visiting the club prior to completing the registration process does not in any way commit you to registration and uptake of a place.  Please telephone the club and speak to the Senior Play Worker about a pre-registration visit.

 Problems, Complaints and Suggestions:

If you have a problem, complaint or suggestion regarding the Tigerz Club, please contact us immediately.  You should speak to the senior play worker or the manager.  It is the remit of the senior play worker (or his/her deputy) to report any grievances/suggestions (and their outcome) to the management.  A written response to any letter of grievance/suggestion will be forthcoming within 10 working days, following the date of the next available management meeting.

Should you as a parent/guardian, wish to take the matter further, you can contact the Care Commission (Inverness office) on: 01463 702934 or the Aberdeen office on 01224 793870. The Care Commission is the regulatory body for childcare in Scotland
